![]() ![]() ![]() One of the best platformers to grace your PC screen, Jazz Jackrabbit was a very successful platformer by shareware standards, released by Epic Megagames in 1993 and spawned a number of well-received sequels. ![]() Jazz can also pick up various power-ups, including a force shield, a hoverboard that allows him to float in the air, a bird that will fight on Jazz's side, and others. Jazz starts with a blaster, but during the course of the game acquires other weapons, such as grenade launcher, flamethrower, TNT, etc. The game is primarily a shooter, meaning that in order to defeat his enemies, it's not enough for Jazz to jump over their heads. However, the rest of the gameplay mechanics are different. The similarity to Sonic the Hedgehog manifests itself in Jazz's uncanny speed, and the fact it increases the more he runs. In this platform game, Jazz, the hero of the rabbit planet Carrotus, must rescue the beloved rabbit princess, Eva Earlong, and defeat the leader of the turtle terrorists, Devan Shell, traveling to different planets to gather clues concerning Eva's whereabouts while liberating them from Shell's tyranny. Of course this is highly subjective, and relative.Jazz Jackrabbit is the PC world's answer to Sonic the Hedgehog. (The numbers after each title are my personal valuations of those levels: 3 is OK, 5 is best and 1 is worst. Jazz has finally arrived in Turtle Town, his goal is to defeat the turtle boss and save Eva. Getting ashore, Jazz finds himself in the suburbs. Jazz is out of luck again, it’s the second ship that sinks under him, but luckily he’s not too far from the shores. Jazz cannot leave until he defeats the devil. The haunted town is filled with the restless. Jazz’s ship wrecks on a spooky island, he must escape from the sinking ship. ![]() Turtle Town is on an another continent, so Jazz must make his way to the nearest dock, and that takes him through the jungle. The evil turtle and his minions has invaded the home of the rabbits, Jazz must fight his way through their ranks. ![]()
